Across is an intent-based cross-chain bridge and swap protocol that moves tokens between blockchains such as Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Solana, and BNB Smart Chain. Its primary value is fast transfers, reported by the official site at an average of 1.2 seconds, because independent relayers deliver funds on the destination chain before the transfer is settled.
Across is developed by Risk Labs, the team associated with the UMA protocol, and launched in 2021 as a bridge between Ethereum and Layer 2 networks. The current version, Across V4, covers EVM and non-EVM networks. The official site reports more than $39 billion in cumulative volume and about 5 million users. It lists Uniswap, MetaMask, Coinbase, PancakeSwap, Rabby, and Phantom among its integrators, and provides an API so developers can add bridging and cross-chain swaps to their own applications. Across also contributed to the ERC-7683 cross-chain intents standard together with Uniswap Labs.
