How We Calculate Utility Score
Our Utility Score is calculated based on a weighted analysis of Platform Functionality, User Experience (UX), Ecosystem Integration, and Active Usage. We evaluate the practical value of the tools, feature availability, cross-chain support, and real-world adoption metrics across the Web3 ecosystem.
Note: Utility scores are dynamic and update as apps release new features or add network support. Users should evaluate features based on their own use cases.

Overview
Chainlink is a decentralized oracle network and cross-chain interoperability platform that connects smart contracts to external data, offchain systems, and other blockchains. Its primary value is giving blockchain applications access to verifiable real-world data and cross-chain messaging without depending on a single centralized provider.
Chainlink was co-founded by Sergey Nazarov and Steve Ellis, and its whitepaper was published in 2017. The LINK token, originally issued as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum, is used to compensate node operators and, in the staking programs, to provide economic collateral. The first mainnet oracle services went live in 2019, starting with Data Feeds for asset prices. The product suite has since grown to include Data Streams (low-latency market data), Verifiable Random Function (VRF), Automation, Functions, Proof of Reserve, the Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), and the Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE) for orchestrating multi-step workflows. Chainlink Labs develops core software, while independent node operators run the network.
Performance
Data Feeds update on deviation and heartbeat thresholds; Data Streams provides low-latency, pull-based market data. Latency differs across supported blockchains.
Web
Documentation, developer hub, and Data Feeds addresses are available at chain.link and docs.chain.link. Integrates with multiple EVM and non-EVM blockchains.
