Overview
Ethereal is a high-performance decentralized exchange (DEX) built as a Layer-3 appchain on the Ethena Network, offering institutional-grade perpetual futures trading powered by USDe as native collateral. Its primary value lies in delivering sub-20ms trade execution and zero gas fees — benchmarks traditionally reserved for centralized exchanges — while preserving full on-chain transparency and non-custodial asset control.
Launched in beta in early 2025, Ethereal is developed within the Ethena ecosystem and tightly integrated with USDe, Ethena's delta-neutral synthetic dollar. The platform operates on a dedicated EVM-compatible appchain anchored to Arbitrum and Celestia, isolating its execution environment from general-purpose network congestion. Its Season Zero pre-deposit program attracted over $400 million in deposits ahead of full mainnet activation, signaling strong early demand.
