Overview
GMX is a decentralized spot and perpetual exchange operating on Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, and other EVM-compatible chains, enabling traders to execute leveraged positions of up to 100x directly from their self-custody wallets. Its primary value lies in delivering the power of centralized derivatives trading—deep liquidity, competitive fees, and precise oracle-based pricing—without surrendering asset custody or relying on a central intermediary.
Launched in September 2021 as a rebrand and merger of Gambit Financial (BNB Chain) and XVIX (Ethereum), GMX rapidly established itself as the dominant derivatives DEX on Arbitrum and Avalanche. The protocol is governed by a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) of over 300,000 token holders, with anonymous core developers and multi-signature wallet oversight. It has processed over $130 billion in cumulative trading volume across its user base of hundreds of thousands of traders and liquidity providers.
Secure
Non-custodial wallet trading with Chainlink oracle pricing eliminates centralized exchange custody and front-running risks entirely.
Performance
Processes perpetual trades across 90+ markets with sub-second oracle settlement on Arbitrum Layer-2, minimizing latency and gas costs.
