Overview
Orca is a decentralized exchange (DEX) and Concentrated Liquidity Automated Market Maker (CLMM) built on the Solana blockchain, enabling users to swap SPL tokens instantly at near-zero cost. Its primary value lies in Whirlpools — a signature concentrated liquidity system that empowers liquidity providers to maximize capital efficiency and earn higher fee yields compared to traditional AMMs.
Launched in February 2021 by Grace Kwan and Yutaro Mori, Orca was among the first DEX protocols deployed on Solana Mainnet. Since then, it has processed over $300 billion in cumulative trading volume (as of early 2025), grown to support 480+ tokens and 1,295+ trading pairs, and established itself as one of Solana's most trusted DeFi protocols — with zero hacks or exploits on record. The protocol introduced Whirlpools in 2022, underwent dual audits by Kudelski Security and Neodyme, and in 2025 launched Wavebreak, an anti-bot token launchpad, alongside a DAO-approved 24-month ORCA token buyback program.
