Overview
Ostium is a self-custodial leveraged trading platform built on Arbitrum (Ethereum Layer 2) that enables users to trade perpetual swaps on real-world assets including stocks, forex, commodities, and indices directly from their crypto wallets. Its primary value is bridging traditional financial markets and decentralized finance, offering up to 200x leverage on assets like Gold, Oil, S&P 500, and TSLA without intermediaries, account freezes, or hidden spreads.
Founded by Ostium Labs and backed by General Catalyst, Jump Crypto, and notable angel investors including Balaji Srinivasan and Meltem Demirors, the protocol raised $3.5M in 2023 and subsequently closed a Series A round co-led by General Catalyst and Jump Crypto. Built on Arbitrum, Ostium uses exchange-licensed price data and a proprietary quoting system to support fast, verifiable settlement of RWA-backed perpetual contracts. As of mid-2026, the platform has processed over $45 billion in trade volume with more than 25,000 active traders and $251 million in open interest.
