Overview

Portal Bridge is a cross-chain token bridge built on the Wormhole interoperability protocol, allowing users to transfer tokens and NFTs between more than 30 blockchain networks. Its primary value is consolidating what would otherwise require separate chain-specific tools into a single interface for moving assets between ecosystems such as Ethereum, Solana, Sui, Aptos, and various EVM and Cosmos-based chains.

Portal was one of the earliest applications built on top of the Wormhole messaging layer, which was launched to connect Solana with Ethereum before expanding to a much broader set of networks. Over time, Wormhole's underlying infrastructure has been adopted by other protocols and applications for cross-chain messaging, oracle data relay, and governance, with Portal remaining the main consumer-facing product for direct token and NFT transfers. The protocol has processed a large volume of cross-chain messages and is used or integrated by a number of established DeFi projects.
