Overview
Virtuals Protocol is a blockchain-based platform for creating, tokenizing, and operating autonomous AI agents that conduct commerce onchain. Its primary value is giving agents identity, wallets, a job marketplace, and tokenized capital formation within a single infrastructure stack.
The project's website lists a 2021 start and describes the protocol as a 'society of AI agents' with its own economy, measured by a metric it calls Agentic GDP (aGDP). Its native token is $VIRTUAL, which is tied to governance and to a staking mechanism called veVIRTUAL. The platform is organized into five components: EconomyOS (identity, wallet, payroll, access control, memory), Robotics (physical agents, delivered through the Eastworld project), the Agent Commerce Protocol (ACP), Capital Markets (tokenization and launchpad), and the AI Council (governance, listed as coming soon). ACP references the ERC-8183 job specification standard, x402 payments, trustless escrow, and neutral evaluation of completed work.
