How We Calculate Utility Score
Our Utility Score is calculated based on a weighted analysis of Platform Functionality, User Experience (UX), Ecosystem Integration, and Active Usage. We evaluate the practical value of the tools, feature availability, cross-chain support, and real-world adoption metrics across the Web3 ecosystem.
Note: Utility scores are dynamic and update as apps release new features or add network support. Users should evaluate features based on their own use cases.

Overview
Polygon is a high-performance, EVM-compatible blockchain protocol designed as the primary settlement layer for global payments and decentralized finance. Its core value proposition is enabling institutions, developers, and end-users to transact at Ethereum-grade security with dramatically lower costs — averaging $0.002 per transaction — and processing up to 110 transactions per second across $2.4 trillion in cumulative transfer volume.
Founded by Jaynti Kanani, Sandeep Nailwal, Anurag Arjun, and Mihailo Bjelic, Polygon launched in 2017 under the name Matic Network and rebranded in 2021. Originally built as an Ethereum sidechain, it has since evolved into a full multi-product ecosystem encompassing Polygon PoS (Proof-of-Stake), the AggLayer cross-chain settlement layer, Polygon CDK for building ZK-powered chains, the Open Money Stack (OMS) for regulated enterprise use, and a native wallet and staking infrastructure — all anchored by the POL token.
Secure
Polygon PoS checkpoints to Ethereum mainnet, ensuring battle-tested, Ethereum-grade finality for every transaction settled.
Performance
Processes 110 transactions per second at an average cost of $0.002, sustaining $2.4 trillion in cumulative transfer volume efficiently.
